Founder and CEO

Maisha Beasley, Ed.D

Maisha, a Livermore native, graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Communication Studies, University of the Pacific with a M.A. in Higher Education Administration, and from University of San Francisco with an Ed.D.  in International and Multicultural Education.    

For over 20 years, Dr. Beasley has curated a professional career building sustainable programming for colleges, universities, school districts, and small businesses. Her professional experiences also include working in the educational technology field building online orientation courses for new graduate students with universities across the country. These experiences led Dr. Beasley to steep her passion, education, and experiences into serving the intersections of her communities through consulting.

Dr. Beasley and her co-founder Ashley Carter created the African American Scholars Project which provides African American students in suburban communities with social, emotional, and college preparation skills. This program was recognized by the California State Board Association for their work in equity and access within the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. In addition to program management and consulting, Maisha co-authored a chapter of the book, Cases on Academic Program Redesign for Greater Racial and Social Justice titled “Make Space, Take Space: An Exploration of Academic Counter-Spaces for Black Collegiate Women”.

Maisha is a compassionate leader, an engaging speaker, and a lifelong student of the field of education. Her experience and personable demeanor make her a relatable professional with the ability to touch people's hearts, enhance their knowledge, and motivate them to think ideologies and practices differently. 

Dr. Beasley’s interpersonal skill set to build relationships with her colleagues to ensure the best of the university is shared with new students and their families. Her ability to create wrap-around programming and support for families in the university setting has led to state and national recognition.

Co-founder

Ashley Carter, M.A.

Inspired by a family of educators, Ashley is passionate about promoting access to higher education and social justice initiatives.  Ashley is a double graduate from the University of the Pacific with a bachelor’s in International Relations, with a minor in Ethnic Studies- African Diaspora and a master’s in Education Administration and Leadership.  

During her time at University of the Pacific, she was responsible for creating safe spaces for women and marginalized communities. Her passion for student access led her to co-found MEB Consulting Group with her business partner, Dr. Maisha Beasley.  Mrs. Carter was the main architect of the African American Scholars Project (AASP), creating the tenets the program is built around currently. 

Ashley traveled extensively throughout South Africa, India and Japan as part of her desire to experience other cultures and communities. 

Ashley’s professional experiences led her to have a clear understanding of the educational process from primary school all the way through higher education.

Jordan Joshua • Operations Manager

Jordan Joshua was born and raised in San Diego, California. She attended Saint Mary’s College of California in the Bay Area, where she studied Psychology and fell in love with the culture and diversity that the Bay Area offers. While there, Jordan served as an Orientation Leader, where she discovered her passion for serving youth. She further explored this passion during her time interning with the non-profit, International Refugee Committee, where she facilitated tutoring sessions with children and helped distribute packages full of essential items to immigrant families’. Her heart was always destined to serve others; hence, she continued working in a plethora of programs and organizations leading, coaching, teaching, and mentoring youth. 

Jordan is honored to be a part of this vibrant team of such powerfully driven, educated, inspiring women, who genuinely pour their hearts into all of the work that they do. She has two beautiful children; She enjoys watching basketball with her son, and enjoys playing and coaching basketball in her free time.

Mel deVivar • UX Experience Designer

Mel (she/her) is the first in her family to graduate from college and is a daughter to immigrant parents from the Philippines. She earned two bachelor’s degrees from San José State University: (1) Advertising and Design Studies with a minor in Asian American Studies and (2) Social Sciences. Mel pursued a M.Ed. in Student Development Administration from Seattle University. 

Mel spent 12+ years working in higher education. She uses her superpower of advocating with and on the behalf of underrepresented populations, particularly those who identify as first-generation people of color. In 2020, Mel transitioned into the UX design industry. She leverages her design thinking and research skills to help businesses create solutions that empower communities that have typically been overlooked.

She resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her partner, Mike. Mel enjoys travel, DIY life hacks and spending quality time with family and friends.
